Happy National Rum Day, everyone
I am sure you all know how to celebrate…Sailor Jerry anyone?
Stories we wear on our skin
As you all know I love the artwork of CFB Tattooist (aka Cassandra Frances) who works at End Times in Leeds.
My sister and I got tattooed by her (blog post here) and I have blogged about her on numerous occasions…but her artwork just keeps getting better. So I couldn’t resist doing a quick post with a couple of her recent painting and tattoos.

The tattoo artists at The Family Business, on Exmouth Market in London, have been busy tattooing Olympians with the iconic rings.
Check out their specially-created blog to see who has been under the needle – The Family Business Olympic Journal. You can also watch a short film of some of the athletes, including swimmers Steven Kent and Emily Seebohm.
I really Hope Mo Farah pops to the tattoo parlour for some ink after his amazing double Olympic gold (he’s my highlight of the Games so far) #GoMo.
Since the Olympics began, I have been scouring the world wide web for athletes with amazing tattoos – there’s a lot of bad ones out there and I didn’t want to just blog those athletes who now wear the Olympic rings.
So, as Needles and Sins blog has already uncovered the Top Ten Olympic Tattoos, which I am not sure I can beat, I have instead discovered the talent of illustrator Clare Corfield Carr. She has a certain tattoo style about her illustrations and I love her recent Olympic-inspired pieces…
You can purchase Clare’s illustrations from society6.com, or follow her news on Twitter.
I have blogged about the infamous Alex Binnie on numerous occasions – including his love story – and he also starred in the first film in the London Tattoo Convention series I produced with Papercut Pictures.
Now he has ventured into publishing too and I have to tell you about his beautiful new book, The Woodcut Portraits.
It is three of years woodcut work in one beautiful book. 32 portraits of Alex’s friends and colleagues in the tattoo world, plus three torsos and a skull.
An introduction by Alex links the great traditions of tattooing and printmaking, an amazing foreword by Henk Schiffmacher (who I recently had a lunch date with) and a short biog of the people pictured completes the project. The 32 include – Tomas Tomas, Duncan X, Freddy Corbin, Filip Leu, Tim Lehi, George Bone, Thomas Hooper and Jondix.
