Burning Desire: Body Branding

Burning Desires is a short film created by Channel 4 that follows tattoo enthusiast Kerri as she has traditional Viking runes (letters) burned/branded onto her skin. ‘Burning Desires’ sits within a Body Mods C4 shorts series, which also features other forms of body modification including ear pointing and corset piercings.

Kerri chose the designs based on her fascination with Viking travellers and the way that they marked their skin. The runes, representing love and victory, are burned onto her skin with 500C-700C heat.

Channel 4 Tattoo Fixers

The new series of Tattoo Fixers on Channel 4 is set in a pop-up tattoo parlour where three tattoo artists transform unwanted and regrettable tattoos. The team work on a mixture of clients who wish to change their embarrassing, badly done, rude and crude tattoos. People come to the studio and show the team the piece that  they want covering, while giving a short brief and each artist draws a tattoo design and the customer picks the one they want to get tattooed.

The team includes:

Jay Hutton who manages his own studio in Cheshire, where he tattoos realism and black and grey work on celebrity clientèle.

The wonderful self-taught Lou Hopper of King of Hearts London, who was one of the artists tattooing at our recent Feminist Flash day.

Sketch who specialises in traditional bold colour tattoos from Reppin Ink London..

Tattoo Twists

Tattoo Twists is a series of short films produced for Channel 4. The films follow a collection of people and tattoo artists on their tattoo cover-up journeys, discussing the reasons behind why they want to change their existing tattoos.

This series is a refreshing and positive take on tattoos by Channel 4, gone are the judgemental narratives and in their place are real tattoo enthusiasts.

The human stories behind tattoos that get covered up or changed, for all kinds of reasons, from wiping memories of an ex to creating a ‘new you’
